Description
Chemical spill response for industrial workplaces
The Spillmaster 120L Chemical / Hazchem Spill Kit keeps specialist chemical spill response equipment in a mobile, weather-resistant blue 120L wheeled bin. Suitable for use as part of a site-specific response plan in manufacturing, chemical storage, laboratories and maintenance facilities.
Choose Standard for core chemical absorbents, barrier tape and cleanup tools, or Professional for heavy-weight Hazchem pads, 60L Hazsorb, an absorbent pillow and premium nitrile gloves. Both kits have blue Mobile wheely bins.
Chemical compatibility matters: confirm the specific liquid, absorbents and personal protective equipment against the chemical’s safety data sheet and site procedures before use. Do not assume suitability for unknown chemicals.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Standard and Professional?
Standard provides 40 midweight pads, 30L Hazsorb, socks, barrier tape and cleanup tools. Professional includes 25 heavy-weight pads, 60L Hazsorb, an absorbent pillow and nitrile chemical gloves.
Are both kits supplied in blue bins?
Yes. Both Standard and Professional use blue 120L wheeled bins.
Can I use this kit for any chemical spill?
No. Check the chemical safety data sheet, absorbent compatibility, PPE requirements and your site response procedures. Unknown or particularly hazardous substances may require specialist responders.
Does 120L describe the absorbency?
No. 120L refers to the wheeled bin volume and does not establish a tested liquid absorption capacity.
Is this kit automatically AS 1940 compliant?
No. Compliance depends on the substances handled, site risk assessment, applicable standards and safe response procedures.

Emergency Spill Response: The 5 C’s Guide
Workplace Safety Notice: This procedure is tailored specifically for the Spillmaster Chemical Spill Kit 120L. It may be printed as a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) or displayed as a laminated placard at the kit station.
1. CONTROL the Source & Risk
Open the blue weather‑resistant 120L wheeled bin, retrieve the nitrile gloves (2 pairs included), and ensure responders put them on before approaching the chemical spill. If safe, stop the leak at its origin by closing valves, plugging the breach, or carefully uprighting the container to prevent further hazardous release.
2. CONTAIN the Spread
Deploy the required number of Hazchem absorbent socks (75mm × 1.2m, up to 3 included) end-to-end to form a continuous barrier around the spill perimeter and halt fluid migration. Prioritise blocking access to stormwater drains, unsealed ground, and pedestrian walkways.
3. COMMUNICATE the Hazard
Alert nearby workshop or transit staff and immediately restrict access to the chemical spill zone. For large-scale hazardous chemical incidents, notify your WHS supervisor or site emergency warden according to workplace safety procedures. Ensure the high-visibility spill kit sticker on the bin is properly maintained and refer to the included physical Spill Kit Instructions for rapid on-site reference.
4. CLEAN UP the Liquid
Apply the necessary amount of loose absorbent from the Hazsorb 30L bags (2 included) directly onto pooled liquid to bind and solidify the residues. For deep pools or ongoing leaks, deploy the Hazchem absorbent pillow (45cm × 45cm) into the liquid, and use the heavy‑weight Hazchem poly pads (48cm × 43cm, up to 25 included) as required to clean up surface films. Use the dustpan & brush to cleanly sweep up the loose absorbents. Collect all contaminated materials and place them into the supplied contaminated waste bags (450mm × 720mm, up to 7 included) for safe handling.
5. CHECK & Restock
Inspect the area to ensure no hazardous chemical residue or dangerous fluid sheen remains. Securely seal the contaminated waste bags using cable ties and dispose of them in accordance with local state EPA environmental regulations. Restore full mobile response readiness by restocking the wheeled bin with a matching Spillmaster Refill Pack.

Emergency Spill Response: The 5 C’s Guide
- CONTROL the Source & Risk: Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is donned before approaching any hazardous release. If safe to do so, immediately mitigate the source by closing valves, uprighting damaged containers, or applying emergency plugging to stop further flow.
- CONTAIN the Spread: Deploy appropriate containment barriers, socks, or bunding around the perimeter of the spill to prevent fluid migration. Prioritise blocking access to stormwater drains, unsealed ground, and pedestrian thoroughfares.
- COMMUNICATE the Hazard: Alert nearby personnel, restrict site access around the affected zone, and notify your WHS supervisor or site emergency warden in accordance with facility safety protocols.
- CLEAN UP the Liquid: Apply matching loose absorbents, pads, or pillows directly onto the pooled liquid to capture, bind, and neutralize residues. Safely sweep up saturated materials and transfer all contaminated waste into certified disposal bags for secure handling.
- CHECK & Restock: Inspect the area thoroughly to ensure no residual hazards or slip risks remain. Seal and dispose of waste in compliance with local environmental regulations, and immediately restock equipment to maintain full operational readiness.
