Maximum-capacity hydrocarbon spill control for large industrial sites, outdoor yards, and transport depots.

The Spillmaster 240L Oil & Fuel Spill Kit delivers rapid, large-scale containment for heavy spills of diesel, petrol, lubricants, and hydraulic oil. Housed in a weatherproof, mobile wheelie bin, its hydrophobic absorbents repel water to ensure 100% absorption capacity is dedicated to fuel and oil—even in outdoor or rainy conditions.

  • 240L Absorption Capacity: Maximum-volume containment for bulk fuel transfer failures, tank ruptures, and major machinery line bursts.

  • Water-Repellent Absorbents: Selective hydrophobic pads, socks, and pillows absorb oil-based fluids while repelling water and floating on puddles.

  • Weatherproof Mobile Bin: Heavy-duty, high-visibility wheelie bin keeps contents clean, dry, and ready to roll directly to an outdoor incident.

  • WHS & EPA Compliant: Meets Australian environmental duty-of-care regulations to keep your major industrial site fully audit-ready.

WHS & EPA Compliance

  • Selective Absorbency: Hydrophobic technology ensures pads, socks, pillows, and FloorSweep only absorb hydrocarbons (oil/fuel), leaving standing water behind to maximize absorption capacity.
  • Standards Compliant: Meets AS1940:2017 requirements for the storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids.
  • Duty of Care: Helps site supervisors, depot managers, and safety officers satisfy site WHS and EPA requirements for major spill readiness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a 240L Oil & Fuel kit repel water?
Because hydrocarbons often spill outdoors on concrete hardstands or in rain-exposed yards, hydrophobic absorbents are engineered to repel water and only absorb fuel, oil, and lubricants. This prevents absorbents from wasting capacity on rain or surface puddles.

Where should a 240L wheeled hydrocarbon spill kit be located?
Its mobile 2-wheel bin design allows it to be wheeled quickly across large sites. It should be stationed near high-risk zones like bulk fuel transfer stations, heavy equipment workshops, transport loading bays, and outdoor industrial yards.

Is this 240L kit AS1940 compliant?
Yes. It satisfies the spill response standards set out in AS1940:2017 and supports workplace WHS and EPA duty-of-care requirements for large-scale hydrocarbon spill management.

Workplace SOP & 5 C’s Guide

Emergency Spill Response: The 5 C’s Guide

Workplace Safety Notice: This procedure is tailored specifically for the Spillmaster Oil & Fuel Spill Kit 240L. It may be printed as a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) or displayed as a laminated placard at the spill kit station.

1. CONTROL the Source & Risk
Open the weather‑resistant 240L wheeled spill kit bin, retrieve the nitrile gloves (2 pairs included), and ensure responders put them on before approaching the spill. If safe, stop the leak at its origin by closing valves, plugging the breach, or carefully uprighting the container to prevent further release.

2. CONTAIN the Spread
Deploy the required number of polypropylene oil‑only absorbent socks around the spill perimeter to halt hydrocarbon migration. For large-scale containment, deploy the long absorbent sock (75mm × 3m) and link the standard absorbent socks (75mm × 1.2m, up to 3 included) end-to-end to form a continuous, high-volume hydrophobic barrier. Prioritise blocking access to stormwater drains, unsealed ground, and open waterways.

3. COMMUNICATE the Hazard
Alert nearby workshop or site staff and restrict access to the spill zone, keeping in mind the heightened ignition or fire risk inherent to large fuel leaks. For substantial volumes or high-risk incidents, notify your WHS supervisor or site emergency warden according to workplace procedures. Ensure the spill kit identification sticker on the bin is properly maintained and refer to the included step‑by‑step spill response instructions for rapid on-site reference.

4. CLEAN UP the Liquid
Apply the necessary amount of premium FloorSweep from the 10kg bags (3 included) directly onto the pooled hydrocarbons to rapidly absorb and bind the liquid. For deep pools or ongoing leaks, deploy the oil‑only absorbent pillow (45cm × 45cm) directly into the liquid, and use the heavy‑weight oil‑only poly pads (48cm × 43cm, up to 40 included) as required to wipe up surface films. Collect all contaminated materials and distribute them across the supplied contaminated waste bags (450mm × 720mm, up to 10 included) for safe handling.

5. CHECK & Restock
Inspect the area to ensure no slippery residue, dangerous fuel vapors, or surface sheen remains. Securely seal the contaminated waste bags and dispose of them in accordance with local state environmental regulations. Restore full mobile response readiness by restocking the wheeled bin with a matching Spillmaster Refill Pack.
