Description
The Spillmaster 30L Oil & Fuel Spill Kit is a portable, high-capacity hydrocarbon response kit designed for fast containment of diesel, petrol, oil, lubricants, and hydraulic fluids. Featuring water-repellent (hydrophobic) absorbents, it selectively absorbs hydrocarbons while repelling water—making it ideal for service vehicles, utes, small workshops, machinery areas, and refueling points where medium-sized spills must be controlled quickly and safely.

WHS & EPA Compliance
- Selective Absorbency: Hydrophobic technology ensures pads and socks only absorb hydrocarbons (oil/fuel), leaving standing water behind to maximize absorption capacity.
- Standards Compliant: Meets AS1940:2017 requirements for the storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids.
- Duty of Care: Helps maintenance crews, mobile technicians, and fleet managers satisfy site WHS requirements and reduce slip hazards.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does a 30L Oil & Fuel kit repel water?
Because hydrocarbons often spill outdoors, in vehicle bays, or on wet ground, hydrophobic absorbents are engineered to repel water and only absorb fuel, oil, and lubricants. This prevents absorbents from wasting capacity on rain or surface puddles.
Where is a 30L Grab ‘n’ Go Bag typically stored?
Its compact bag design makes it ideal for mounting in mobile service vans, ute trays, earthmoving machinery cabs, fuel transfer stations, and small workshop maintenance bays where a full wheelie bin won’t fit.
Is this 30L kit AS1940 compliant?
Yes. It satisfies the spill response standards set out in AS1940:2017 and supports workplace WHS and EPA duty-of-care requirements for medium-sized hydrocarbon spill management.

Emergency Spill Response: The 5 C’s Guide
Workplace Safety Notice: This procedure is tailored specifically for the Spillmaster Oil & Fuel Spill Kit 30L. It may be printed as a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) or displayed as a laminated placard at the spill kit station.
1. CONTROL the Source & Risk
Remove the pair of nitrile gloves from the red weather‑resistant PVC spill kit bag and put them on before approaching the spill. If safe, stop the leak at its origin by closing valves, plugging the breach, or carefully uprighting the container to prevent further release.
2. CONTAIN the Spread
Deploy the polypropylene oil‑only absorbent sock (75mm × 1.2m) around the spill perimeter to prevent oil or fuel migration. Prioritise blocking access to stormwater drains, unsealed ground, and open waterways where hydrocarbons can rapidly spread.
3. COMMUNICATE the Hazard
Alert nearby workshop or site staff and restrict access to the spill zone, taking note of the heightened ignition or fire risk inherent to fuel spills. For larger volumes or high-risk incidents, notify your WHS supervisor or site emergency warden according to workplace procedures. Ensure the spill kit identification sticker is cleanly displayed and refer to the included step‑by‑step spill response instructions for rapid on-site reference.
4. CLEAN UP the Liquid
Deploy the required number of heavy‑weight oil‑only poly pads (48cm × 43cm, up to 20 included) directly onto the pooled oil or fuel. These specialized hydrophobic pads will selectively absorb hydrocarbons while completely repelling any water or moisture present. Wipe down surfaces to clean up any remaining oily film. Collect all saturated absorbents and place them into the supplied contaminated waste bags (450mm × 720mm, up to 3 included) for safe handling.
5. CHECK & Restock
Inspect the area to ensure no slippery residue, dangerous fuel vapors, or surface sheen remains. Securely seal the contaminated waste bags and dispose of them in accordance with local state environmental regulations. Restore full response readiness by restocking the kit with a matching Spillmaster Refill Pack.
